Kutzky Park is a charming, historic neighborhood that is ideally located within steps of Rochester, Minnesota’s Mayo Clinic headquarters and its hospitals (Saint Mary’s Hospital and Rochester Methodist Hospital). This densely populated, story-book looking neighborhood has endless amounts of side-walk, multiple parks and numerous commercial businesses (i.e. spas, restaurants, hotels, brew-pubs) within walking distance. Kutzky Park is accessible via the surrounding primary roadways: 2nd Street on the southend, Highway 52 on the west and Civic Center Drive on the north. Additionally, despite being in the heart of the city, numerous side streets with limited weekday parking keep areas of this neighborhood quiet and safe.
Local Area History: In 1883, a F5 tornado struck Rochester, Minnesota. As a result, the Mayo Brothers and the nuns established Mayo Clinic’s Saint Mary’s Hospital. In turn, area homes were built and the Kutzky Park neighborhood was developed over a number of decades.

Kutzky Park West rests beside Cascade Creek and consists of basketball courts, sand volleyball court, Rochester Tennis Center (RTC) outdoor courts, picnic shelter with rentable space and a playground. Narrowing down the best of Kutzky Park is difficult since the Kutzky Park neighborhood offers so much! For your morning coffee and breakfast, try Fiddlehead Coffee, Sweet House Bakery, Canadian Honker Restaurant or Caribou Coffee. For lunch, Olive Garden, Salad Brothers Cafe & Deli, AP’s Griddle and Saints on 2nd are popular choices. For a night out, stop at The Boulder Tap House-Rochester and Wild Bill’s Sports Saloon. On Taco Tuesday, grab a mexican meal at Los Jarritos or Taco Lab (A food truck at the old Daube’s Bakery. If you are local, you will know how sad it was to see Daube’s leave). For your late night pizza delivery, check out your neighborhood Toppers Pizza.
Now, if you have kids, be sure to swing by the ABC and Toy Zone store at the Miracle Mall (an outdoor strip mall). Every Christmas, they have the “real” Santa Claus stationed at their store and of course, it is full of toys. While you are there, walk down the sidewalk and visit HOM Furniture with the kids. Be sure to grab a complimentary cookie and juice while you shop! Then, hop on your bikes and head over to the outdoor and indoor playgrounds at the United Way of Olmsted County. Next, spend your Sunday afternoon biking and exploring. While at Kutzky Park West, hop on the bike trail and head west. This will take you to the Cascade Park recreation area. This developing area contains a swimming beach, a natural play area with play equipment and is connected to the city’s popular bicycle/walking paths. Future development plans include an outdoor amphitheater for smaller musical performances, events and food trucks. Additionally, while you are in that vicinity, swing over to Thesis Beer Project (Brew Pub) for some trivia.

Kutzky Park children are assigned to Rochester Public School District’s Elton Hills Elementary (K-5th Grades with 480 students), John Adams Middle School (6th-8th Grades with 1,100 students) and John Marshall High School (9th-12th Grades with 1,550 students). All 3 schools are located 5-10 minutes outside of the neighborhood. Rochester Public Schools also has many options for open enrollment to other elementary sites. Alternatively, numerous private schools, catholic, lutheran and STEM exist within the city limits.
